![]() The drop rate of diamonds increases too, a silver lining because you'll start dying with a frequency not seen since the first few rounds of the last zone. The different zones introduce new environments and enemies, and the difficulty is taken up a notch. There's so many reasons to keep returning for one more pass, none more enticing than the promise of getting through a zone, beating its boss, and unlocking the next. You can even unlock passive buffs that give you extra starting health and increase the amount of gold your opponents drop. You can spend diamonds unlocking different bosses to practice against at your leisure, and reaching certain milestones will open up additional training grounds. In fact, the amount of unlockable content is admirable, and we've still got plenty more to access before we can claim to 100% finished. There's more to unlock than just future loot drops. It's a neat system that gives you a tangible reward for a decent run, and keeps you hungry for more. After you pop your clogs, if you've got enough in your purse, you can spend them on new items to appear in chests in future play-throughs, ever-so-slightly increasing your odds of survival, at least for a few steps further. Diamonds are found throughout the world, on the floor or hidden in walls. You might die and start again with unnerving regularity, but there is progression. ![]() Armour keeps you safer, spells and food restore health, and you can even pick up jewellery that grants additional effects to help you on your way. New weapons give you better range or more damage, and there's a selection of enchantments that add even more variety to your arsenal. Keeping you alive longer are the items you find around the place tucked away in chests and bought from singing shopkeepers. You don't have much health and death is usually not too far away. ![]()

Instantly apply associated looks and LUTS to dailies or as sidecar files.Timecode based automatic audio-sync function for dailies creation.High performance transcoding engine to common formats including DNxHD, ProRes and H.264.The headline new features in Silverstack Lab include: With the library as hub for managing and ensuring completeness of transcodes, it becomes fundamentally easy to provide dailies clips to the entire team for review, analysis, approval and processing. Silverstack Lab comes with an incorporated matching wizard that automatically associates clips with appropriate digital looks and syncs respective audio tracks.Ĭomplemented by a high performance transcoding engine, which lets users simultaneously transcode clips to all common file formats, including DNxHD MXF, ProRes flavours, and H.264 clips, the dailies creation task reaches a whole new level of productivity. Here too are the TLDL bits about Silverstack Lab from the Pomfort press release: ![]() In the short promo video above you can get a good sense of how Pomfort see Silverstack Lab fitting into the production and post workflow. Tony hill mountain duck soup recipe full#This hugely accelerates the dailies process.Ĭheck out my full interview with Thatcher below to learn more about being a professional DIT and his thoughts on gear, software and the role of the DIT. This way I can get started working on the footage before it’s even done downloading. The minute Silverstack starts downloading footage, it’s immediately available for QC, sound sync, metadata management, colour grading. One of the things that stood out to me most in my interview with DIT Thatcher Kelley, who was a beta tester for Pomfort, was his summary of how an all-in-one app can deliver all important workflow efficiencies: This can then be added to as the project progresses and be called up at a moments notice, even months after the job was finished, to check a specific detail or piece of metadata. The huge inherent benefit to the Clip Library is that you now have a saved project file which contains all of the metadata, assets and information related to a project. Rather than using several different pieces of software to securely copy, back up, grade and transcode the raw footage into dailies with a look baked in, Silverstack Lab becomes the centre point of all that work, consolidated into the Clip Library at the heart of the Silverstack platform. Silverstack Lab is the newest app in the Pomfort line up, alongside Silverstack and LiveGrade, and which now incorporates many of the common tasks a DIT needs to accomplish on set, into one easy to manage workflow. In this sponsored post from Pomfort, I got to take a sneak peak at the latest addition to their insanely feature-rich DIT software while it was still in beta. I’ve previously reviewed Silverstack in this round up of DIT tools, which is part of an on-going series of posts covering the world of being a Digital Imaging Technician. ![]() Silverstack Lab is the latest evolution in Pomfort’s industry standard DIT data management and live colour grading toolset, that just launched.
![]() ![]() As Deatra continued on her way to work, she saw three more Khoisan men and women doing the same thing: Working silently, unnoticed, stealing something invisible from people. She found this puzzling but didn’t want to be late. No one seemed to notice him and nobody complained that anything was stolen. He moved through the crowd taking, just as the people did at the concert the night before. There was a little Khoisan man that reminded her of her grandfather. She worked in the FNB building a few blocks away. The next day Deatra disembarked from the commuter train in downtown Cape Town. With the backdrop of the meteor shower, it was spectacular. ![]() The victims, caught up in the concert, didn’t seem to notice.įireworks were the big finale of the concert. Except, she couldn’t see what they were taking. They were slowly walking through the crowd taking things. They were not dressed flamboyantly like everyone else and they were not paying attention to the concert. They were small and appeared to be Khoisan. The people were so excited that three people really stood out – two women and a man. She let her eyes scan the crowd as the music washed over her. As the band started up again, she kept looking at the sky waiting to see if another meteor would turn. A particularly big one moved slowly across the sky and then turned towards the desert in the North. Every streaking ball of light made her breath catch. Everyone got louder as the note ended.Īs the crowd settled and the band prepared for their next song, Deatra turned her eyes upwards again. Her eyes dropped back to the stage as the crowd screamed and shouted in appreciation as the song ended with a held note. She couldn’t decide which was more awesome the band on stage or the natural light display in the sky. The stars appeared to be shooting across the sky along with the music. She remembered that there was a meteor shower this week. Caught up in the moment Deatra tilted her head back eyes to the night sky letting the music pull her. The concert was amazing! The crowd was pressed against the stage swaying to the music. Deatra works among these buildings.Īstro-Blackness: a person’s black state of consciousness, released from the confining and crippling slave or colonial mentality, becomes aware of the multitude and varied possibilities and probabilities within the universe.” This city skyline of Cape Town central business district includes the FNB building which is mentioned in the Khoisan Horizon short story. Khoisan Horizon projects a revolutionary South African future. Khoisan Horizon captures this moment in South Africa as the rosy glow of the end of Apartheid fades and promises still have not been delivered. Deatra becomes entwined with one such group that has organized themselves to achieve their goals and equality ultimately by military force. Those who are not benefitting within the new South Africa are frustrated and angry. Post-Apartheid South Africa was labelled “the Rainbow Nation” yet many of the Apartheid structures remain or were reconstituted leading to uneven progress among South Africans. ![]() Deatra fights with herself and against her heritage, the very heritage that gives her a chance to craft the future. The colonial oppression of Apartheid set up cultural hierarchies that remain imbedded in South Africa and within Deatra’s own body. What is stolen is connected to the aliens and has historical and future significance for herself, South Africa, and the rest of the world. Living in Cape Town, while on her way to work in the central business district, Deatra witnesses a theft. A meteor shower is the perfect cover for an alien invasion. From the ground, those bits of dust appear as beautiful falling stars, however each is a speck of dust that burns and is destroyed as it hits the Earth’s atmosphere. Meteor showers occur several times a year they are the small bits of debris left by comets as they pass through the inner solar system.
